Ancient Greece
Greece has a very unusual landscape and climate. Its landscape has many mountains and valleys which sometimes makes it hard to grow crops. Greece's climate is warm dry summers and mild, rainy winters. This is Mediterranean climate. Since the land in Greece is very mountainous only some crops are able to grow. Grapes, olives, barley, and wheat where the main crops. Grapes were a big part because they made wine and that was a primary drink in Greece other than water. Olives would be used to make olive oil and many other things to eat, also Athena (Zeus daughter) tree was the olive tree. Barley and wheat were used to make bread and other foods. Greece's seasons are mostly summer and winter. Summer is hot and dry most of the time, but winter can be cold and stormy. Greece's terrain is mountainous with many valleys
Since Greece's terrain was very mountainous it affected the way city states developed. People from different city-states didn't see each other that often but when they did sometimes they fought. They did trade with others and their main way of getting to other place was by boat. Corinth or Korinthos where big traders because they where near a large body of water that was easy to get to by boat. The people could get food by trading or a big one was farming. The one problem was not all food could grow in the terrain, but the food they could grow they grew a lot of. City-States where a big thing in Greece because the cities where so far away from each other they developed differently and on leader could not control all of the land. They had different types of government and other things like that which caused them to get in fights... a lot. The landscape of Ancient Greece is cool and it would have been awesome to live there too.
